Author: SARK

I bought this book at Angus and Robertson Book Store in Brisbane (Aus) on the 10th of June 2001 around 12.30pm. A few hours later, I finished reading the book. That’s how fun this is!

I first came across Sark’s work while I was living in California (USA). I wanted to buy her book so badly. But, at that time, I held back. And, every time I came across her books, I kept holding back. After reading

On Sexuality, Sark writes:
“Let’s open our sexual closets and gently investigate the contents.”

This was one of the toughest challenges that this book posed on me. Growing up in a family and culture where talks of s.e.x. is considered taboo, I have learned to keep quiet about my questions, thoughts, and ideas about this. Sark’s words about the issue somehow gave me permission to explore my own thoughts, views, and memories of this topic.

On Creativity, Sark writes:
“Let your creative spirit rush. flow. tumble. leak. spring. bubble. stream. dribble. out of you.”

I’ve always been dabbling with creativity. I love to write. I love to act. I love to paint. I love to dance. Give me anything that has to do with creativity and I’ll go through it with a passion. It’s not always easy, though. In fact, I’ve tried to run away from my creative interests many times. I even took up Psychology as my undergraduate degree and went on with my masters degree in the same field to give myself ’something solid’ as a career. Now, I’m learning to see how I can merge my educational background, professional experience, and my creative passion as my life’s work.

On Friendships, Sark writes [slightly changed]:
“Celebrate your gorgeous friendships with women. Go out. Change routines. Be available for friendships.”

Ever since I became an expatriate, I used my ‘busy-ness’ and lack of people that I know and share interests with as excuses for not having good, healthy friendships. Sure, I have a wonderful husband as my best friend. Yet, somehow, Sark reminded me that there’s something to be valued in friendships with other women – and I mean not just online.

On Money and Power, Sark writes:
“You are worthy of investment.”

There are a lot of helpful, inspiring advice on how women should look at money and power in this section. For one thing, Sark tries to empower women by saying that it’s OK to be successful. It’s OK to want and to have money. And even if one is not successful or rich, real wealth can be found where a lot of people are not looking.

I’m sure that when you try to read Succulent Wild Woman: Dancing With Your Wonder.Full Self, you’ll find many other things that I wasn’t able to mention here. In just 179 colorful and unique pages, you’ll gain a special mentor in Sark, find lots of further reading resources, and know that you deserve to live a succulent, wild, and wonder.full life.
